What is Advancement Research?

In today's environment, competition is intense for the  limited philanthropic dollars available.  Nonprofit leaders can no longer rely on instinct or intuition to develop the sophisticated development operations necessary today. Although many fundraising organizations have utilized some form of research for years, today's advancement (or 'prospect') research comprises more than passing on anecdotes and locating information.  Expert analysis is necessary to convert raw data and information into functional intellegence.

Who Are Advancement Researchers?

Advancement researchers are the development officers on the front line of data management.  Using the internet and other current techologies, advancement researchers collect, evaluate, analyze, organize, package and disseminate publicly available information in a way that maximizes its strategic use, and enables accurate and educated decision-making to meet the growing information needs of the fundraising community.
